Presented by the Child Advocacy Center of Sedgwick County, this training covers how talking about personal safety and sex creates a protective bond between parent and child, increases confidence for both, and instills knowledge that makes children and teens much less vulnerable. Building on the education provided in Stewards of Children®, Darkness to Light’s evidence-informed training on preventing, recognizing, and reacting responsibly to child sexual abuse, you will learn how to talk with and listen to children about sexual abuse and personal safety.

Build stronger connections. Boost confidence. Help protect kids. Talking with children and teens about personal safety and sexual abuse can feel tough—but it’s one of the most powerful ways to protect them. This training helps make those conversations easier and more effective.

In this course, you’ll learn how to:

  • Talk openly with children about personal safety and sexual abuse
  •
  • Build a protective bond that strengthens trust and connection
  •
  • Increase both your confidence and your child’s confidence
  •
  • Help children and teens become less vulnerable to abuse
  •
  • Create a safe space where kids feel heard and supported
  •
