It is recommended practice to review ethical values and standards with fellow practitioners when faced with challenges. Codes of ethics seldom serve as a rulebook with clear guidelines, but rather, statements to help guide decision-making. This session will engage practitioners in discussions related to what the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics actually says about boundaries and how boundaries can serve as a powerful strategy for connection with those we serve. We will also discuss the role of self-disclosure in practice as a means for relational support and healing.
