The University of Kansas Wind Ensemble, conducted by Paul W. Popiel, director of bands, returned to share their talent with a group of 200 guests who gathered for a gorgeous evening of beautiful music & gourmet food at a picturesque spot overlooking Clinton Lake in early September. The harvest moonrise at the end of the concert made an already magical experience even more special.

Evan Williams Catering created exclusive gourmet picnic baskets that included champagne from City Wine Market and flowers by Bittersweet Floral + Design. Additional in-kind donors were O'Malley Beverage, Cork and Barrel, Owens Flower Shop, and Johnny's Tavern. Lucas Petersen performed a solo set ahead of the Wind Ensemble's program of American orchestral favorites, Paul Laird, professor of musicology, served as announcer, and Geoff Landman, associate professor of the practice, gave a saxophone solo.

CASA is humbled to report that event sponsors, Mentor Circle members, attendees, and additional donors came together to contribute over $140,000 for best interest advocacy on behalf of local children who have experienced abuse and neglect. Thank you all for supporting these kids with such compassion and generosity.
